Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: existing (pre-)sarcopenia and IGF-I deficiency signed declaration of consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Insufficient capacity to give consent Legal guardianship Diagnosed muscle disease (myasthenia gravis, muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), poliomyelitis) Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus Tumour disease within the last 5 years Allergy to milk protein or lactose intolerance

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Metabolite concentrations in venous blood plasma measured by targeted liquid chromatography mass spectrometry at baseline and 45 and 120 minutes after consumption of a protein-rich drink

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Concentration of total ghrelin, IGF-I, GH, insulin, glucose and triglycerides in venous blood plasma or serum at baseline, as well as 45 and 120 minutes after consuming a protein-rich liquid meal, and changes in appetite using a visual analogue scale. Group differences in risk of malnutrition (using Mini Nutritional Assessment), body composition (using DXA), results of geriatric assessments.
