Conditions

Alterations and diseases of the digestive tract/gastrointestinal system (e.g. in the context of diseases corresponding to ICD-10 dialogue such as K51, K50, C18 or E66) and axis from the intestine (microbiome) to peripheral organs (e.g. in the context of diseases corresponding to ICD-10 dialogue such as K58) K51 K50 C18 E66 K58

Interventions

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who have a disease of the gastrointestinal system, who are suspected of having a disease of the gastrointestinal system, and/or who require endoscopic examination (colonoscopy and/or esophagogastroscopy) for further clarification, or who are presenting for an endoscopic check-up or preventive examination.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Inability to consent to the study - Contraindication to biopsy sampling - Patients in reduced general condition (ECOG > 2)

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary purpose of the biobank is to conduct research into diseases of the digestive tract as well as functional changes to the gastrointestinal system and the role of the intestinal and oral microbiome in this context (e.g., chronic inflammatory bowel disease, tumor diseases, metabolic disorders).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Exemplary secondary endpoints that can be addressed using data from the biobank: - Preventive and diagnostic usability of microbiome signatures for the early detection of gastrointestinal diseases - Identification of factors that disrupt the microbiome (e.g., medication, lifestyle, diet) in the context of the research questions - Significance of clinical metadata, lifestyle, and epidemiological data on the development of corresponding diseases
