Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Sepsis survived within the last month with SOFA score greater than or equal to 2. - CMV seropositivity (detection of anti-CMV IgG) - Increase in banded granulocytes to greater than or equal to 5% in routine laboratory tests

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Pre-existing drug-induced immunosuppression - Malignant hematological condition - Known infection with human immunodeficiency virus

Reactivation intensity (CMV DNA copy number), need for lung replacement therapy (ECMO) (yes/no), duration of lung replacement therapy, duration of ventilation, length of stay in intensive care, length of hospital stay (all of the above in days), need for kidney replacement therapy (yes/no), and mortality.
