Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Planned elective visceral surgical procedure of the thorax, abdomen, or pelvis.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Pregnancy, previous organ transplantation, inability to administer antibiotics

| The following will be recorded: duration of postoperative stay in the intensive care unit, length of hospital stay, readmissions to the hospital, duration of antibiotic therapy, postoperative day of diagnosis of a wound infection (SSI), progression of infection parameters, reoperations, in-hospital mortality and morbidity (Comprehensive Complication Index), specific postoperative complications, postoperative bleeding, functional outcomes, nosocomial infections (urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bacteremia), Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, myocardial infarctions, pulmonary embolisms, strokes, identified bacterial species in samples, and antibiotic resistance of isolated pathogens. | — |
