| The aim of the project is to perform a detailed characterization of the microbiome found in tumor tissue and to investigate the influence of the bacterial strains identified here on the immune cell composition in tumor tissue. This will involve a detailed phenotypic and functional characterization of the infiltrating immune cell populations in tissue samples from patients with pancreatic cancer, obtained during therapeutic surgery. | — |

| In addition, pancreatic, bile, and duodenal secretions are to be obtained during the therapeutic surgical procedure. These secretions will also be examined for their microbial composition in order to draw conclusions about possible bacterial infiltration via anatomically adjacent structures. In addition, saliva and stool samples will be collected from patients preoperatively and, in the case of adjuvant chemotherapy, postoperatively in order to perform a microbiome analysis and thus investigate possible prognostic relevance. | — |
