Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Control group: • Age = 18 years • Bilateral normal hearing according to DIN EN ISO 8253-1 and WHO: normal health without ear diseases and without inherited hearing loss, who were not exposed to excessive noise or ototoxic substances, and whose pure-tone hearing threshold at air conduction 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8 kHz was not worse than 25 dB Experimental groups: • Age = 18 years • Unilaterally or bilaterally fitted cochlear implant recipients with a system from one of the manufacturers listed above • CI experience = 6 months
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Control group: • Failure to meet at least one inclusion criterion • Inability to attend the study site • Inability to understand the study procedures • Pregnancy • Lack of capacity to consent or consent to the study • Implanted stimulators • Non-functional middle ear physiology Experimental groups: • Prelingually acquired deafness and post-language acquisition support • Failure to meet at least one inclusion criterion • Inability to attend the study site • Inability to understand the study procedures • Pregnancy • Lack of capacity to consent or consent to the study • Other implanted stimulators besides a cochlear implant • Non-functional middle ear physiology
