Conditions

Patients referred for lung biopsy generally have suspicious intrapulmonary changes, although the exact nature of these changes cannot be determined with certainty until the histological findings are available. In the majority of cases, the lesions are malignant, although inflammatory changes are also possible, for example.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Male or female persons capable of making decisions Performance of a CT-guided percutaneous lung biopsy Availability of a written declaration of consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Puncture of > 1 lesion Lesion that is not clearly intrapulmonal Legal incapacity or lack of consent Contraindications to lung biopsy Active pregnancy Participation in another interventional study

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Occurrence of post-interventional pneumothorax within 48 hours after biopsy Verification by means of standardised follow-up examinations (post-interventional low-dose CT scan up to 12 hours after biopsy, follow-up X-ray on the following day)

MeasureTime frame
Indication for chest drainage (pneumothorax requiring treatment) Occurrence of other biopsy-related complications Identification of risk factors for the occurrence of post-interventional pneumothorax
