Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: a. Patient must be accepted for treatment at the outpatient clinic Marburg b. Patient with primary diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder according to DSM-5 criteria und BDI-II score >= 20 c. Currently in a committed relationship for at least 6 months d. Living together or regular contact (some contact on at least 5 days/week) e. Patients and partners willing to participate f. Partners and patients willing and able to attend joint sessions if assigned to CE-BA g. Both partners have sufficient German language skills in order to participate in the assessments and in treatment h. Patients have to have public health insurance i. Patients have consented to their participation in the Z-Project in DYNAMIC
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: a. High risk of harm to self or others b. Intimate partner violence or threat of violence in the past year c. Currently undergoing couple therapy or couples counseling d. Anticipated changes of psychiatric medication during active treatment e. Any psychosis or schizophrenia, unless stably remitted on maintenance therapy for at least 1 year f. Developmental disability that would impair the ability to benefit from the intervention
