Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The primary endpoint of the study is the prevalence of periodontitis. This will be compared between patients with acne inversa or psoriasis (combined as one group) and a healthy control group. The examination is performed by a licensed dentist as part of a dental examination upon enrollment in the study. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| a. Analysis of whether systemic immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory therapy (DMARDS, NSAIDs, antibiotics, or biologicals) for the two chronic inflammatory skin diseases mentioned above has an impact on the oral health of these patients. Oral health is determined by the DMF index by the examiner (dentist). The b. Analysis of whether patients with moderate to severe psoriasis vulgaris (the severity is determined by a dermatologist) have more frequent oral mucosal changes or poorer oral health than psoriasis vulgaris patients with mild psoriasis vulgaris. c. Analysis of whether patients with moderate to severe acne inversa have more frequent oral mucosal changes or poorer oral health than acne inversa patients with mild acne inversa. d. Analysis of whether the combination of one of the chronic inflammatory skin diseases mentioned and poor oral health has an influence on psychiatric comorbidities such as depression, anxiety disorders, or psychosis. e. Analysis of whether the combination of one of the aforementioned chronic inflammatory skin diseases and poor oral health is associated with certain lifestyle habits, e.g., nicotine, drug, or alcohol abuse. f.
