Conditions

Only healthy young male and female participants with prior experience in strength training will be recruited for the study.

Interventions

Group 1: Two-arm randomised controlled training study over 12 weeks. Supervised systematic strength training 3 times a week with a calculated calorie surplus of 300-500kcal 1st arm: Control group: T

Blood sampling: Biomarkers glucose metabolism: fasting glucose, insulin, HbA1c, HOMA index, ADAG) Liver + kidney function: GOT, GPT, GGT, creatine Cardiovascular markers: blood pressure (systolic, diastolic), resting heart rate Strength performance: 1-RM deadlift and bench press according to NSCA guidelines Body composition using bioelectrical impedance analysis (AKERN 101): body mass, BMI, fat-free mass, fat mass, muscle mass, water balance

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Hooper questionnaire after each session. Items: Fatigue, Sleep, Stress, Soreness, Mood, Hooper Correlation analyses: Macronutrients and energy expenditure with glucose, liver and kidney markers
