Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All newborns and their mothers who were diagnosed with perinatal brachial plexus palsy following a shoulder dystocia at the Perinatal Center of the Department of Women’s Health, University Hospital Tübingen, or at the Women’s Clinic of Stuttgart Clinic.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Newborns without brachial plexus palsy. Newborns with brachial plexus palsy who were not born at the Perinatal Centers in Tübingen or Stuttgart.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Influence of obstetric management and adherence to the guideline-recommended shoulder dystocia algorithm on the occurrence and outcome of perinatal brachial plexus palsy.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Analysis of maternal risk factors, such as fetal macrosomia, diabetes mellitus, obesity, or previous shoulder dystocia, on the risk of brachial plexus palsy.
