Both healthy patients coming for preventive check-ups and patients with various conditions, ranging from chronic to acute, from different medical specialties.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria are a minimum age of 18 years, mental competence, and voluntary participation in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria are age under 18 years and mental impairment that could affect the ability to participate in the study.

Agreement between patients’ self-assessment of their expectations regarding physician–patient communication before the consultation and the corresponding assessment of anticipated patient expectations by the treating physicians after the consultation, measured using the PATientenERwartungsfragebogen Kurzversion (PATERkd).	—

1. Typology of patients based on their expectations of physicians. 2. Typology of physicians based on their perception and evaluation of patients. 3. Assessment of potential influencing factors (e.g., physical health, psychological condition, and optimism of the patient) and their impact on patient expectations of physicians using the PHQ-4. 4. Analysis of associations between the assessments (patient expectations of physician–patient communication vs. anticipated patient expectations by the physician, cf. primary endpoint) and possible influencing factors (e.g., patient’s psychological condition, optimism, physician’s evaluation of the patient using the 18-Adjective Questionnaire). 5. Differences between difficult and non-difficult patients (identified through the 18-Adjective Questionnaire) regarding PATER scales and the physician’s evaluation of the patient. 6. Validation of the PATER Questionnaire and the 18-item questionnaire.	—
