Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Pragmatic abilities (especially discourse and figurative language) by means of the novel APACS-DE and their interactions with executive and socio-cognitive abilities, namely: - inferencing abilities measured by the MAKRO (Subtest Inferenzen) to validate the novel APACS-De - working memory by means of the Listening Span Task (German version) and the TAP (Subtest Arbeitsgedächtnis) - cognitive flexibility by means of the RWT (Regensburger Wortflüssigkeits-Test) and the M-WCST (modified Wisconsin Card Sorting Test) - inhibitory control by means of the TAP (Subtest Go/NoGo) - logical reasoning by means of the LPS (Leistungsprüfsystem, Subtest 3) - social emotion recognition by means of the COSIMO (Cognition of Social Interactions in Movies) - Theory of Mind by means of the SET (Story-based Empathy Task) An additional assessment of pragmatic abilities with the novel APACS-DE after 2-3 weeks enables verification of the reliability of the instrument.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Communication abilities rated by patients and their close others (by means of the LCQ, La Trobe Questionnaire) and subjective quality of life assessed by the patients (by means of the QOLIBRI) to allow evaluation of potential impact of pragmatic disabilities on daily functioning. Assessment of the FIM (Functional Independence Measure) allows for controlling for potential impact of functional disabilities.
