Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) left-hemispheric cortical or subcortical ischemic or hemorrhagic event; (2) stroke occurred at least 6 months prior to study enrolment; (3) German as first native language; (4) right-handedness, as confirmed by the Oldfield Handedness Inventory; (5) diagnosis of aphasia with at least basic auditory verbal comprehension skills, as confirmed by the Aachen Aphasia Test; (6) diagnosis of post-stroke depression as per ICD-10 code F06.32
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) other severe neurological disorders; (2) significant uncorrected visual or hearing disability; (3) severe nonverbal cognitive deficits, as revealed by the Corsi Block-Tapping Task; (4) simultaneous speech-language therapy or psychotherapy during the 3-week intervention phase
