Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - 12 healthy women and 12 healthy men each (1:1 ratio, n=24) - existing health insurance (for clarification of incidental findings)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Refusal to participate in the study - Legal incapacity or other circumstances that prevent participants from fully understanding the nature, significance, and scope of this study - Hypersensitive skin or skin diseases (e.g., atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, etc.) - Disorders of sensory processing (modulation of sensory signals, sensorimotor disorder, sensory discrimination) - Analgesic medication (paracetamol, aspirin, ibuprofen, codeine, etc.) - Use of psychoactive substances or psychotropic drugs within the last 24 hours

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The detection threshold (°C), defined as the smallest temperature change relative to the base temperature at which a participant reliably reports a temperature sensation (usually corresponding to a detection probability of 50%).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The slope of the curve around the threshold value, which indicates how strongly the detection probability increases. A steeper slope indicates a more consistent perception near the threshold.
