Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - 10-17 years old [only for Ethiopia] - Minors under 18 years old: Parents or guardians must provide written informed consent, and the minor participant must provide informed assent. - Adults (18 years of age and above) must provide written informed consent. - Study participants must be residents of the study area.

Exclusion criteria: Participants who do not meet the above-listed criteria will be excluded.

| Sexual and Reproductive Health Literacy: This is measured using a 39-item instrument; response options for each item comprise a four-point likert scale ranging from "very difficult" (1 point) to "very easy" (4 points). A participant's literacy is represented by an overall score, with a higher score indicating higher literacy. The score is the sum of the points from each item, thus the score can range from 39-156. | — |

| 1. Sexual and reproductive health-related communication (1) 7 items assessing how comfortable the participant would be reaching out to each of the following individuals with a question regarding sexual and reproductive health: mother, father, sibling, other family member, friend, teacher or counselor, community health worker. Response options to each item are a Likert scale ranging from "very uncomfortable" (1 point) to "Comfortable" (4 points). A participant's overall score will represent the sum across items. 2. Sexual and reproductive health-related communication (2) 7 items assessing whether the participant has talked to any of the following individuals about sexual and reproductive health in the past 6 months: mother, father, sibling, other family member, friend, teacher or counselor, community health worker Scoring will be analogous to Secondary outcome 1 3. Sexual and reproductive health-related communication (3) 2 items assessing whether, if the participant had questions related to sexual and reporductive health, they would know how to reach out to i) a community health worker and ii) a healthcare provider. Response options include "No" and "Yes". 4. Menstruation-related knowledge 1 item assessing the participant's agreement with the following statement: "It is normal for girls to menstruate". Response options to each item are a Likert scale ranging from "Strongly disagree" to "Strongly agree". These will be operationalized in a binary manner, with "Strongly agree" and "Agree" coded as a 1, and "Strongly disagree" and "Disagree" coded as a 0. 5. Menstruation-related communication 1 item assessing the participant's agreement with the following statement: "It is uncomfortable for me to talk about periods". Response options to each item are a Likert scale ranging from "Strongly disagree" to "Strongly agree".
