Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Pediatric patients aged 0–18 years - At least 1 PEWS score recorded as part of routine inpatient monitoring - Inpatient stay at Dresden University Children's Hospital between October 4, 2022, and October 3, 2025

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Patients for whom no PEWS was recorded during their inpatient stay - Care in the following wards: pediatric intensive care unit, perinatal ward, neonatal ward, as the bedside PEWS is not used there for monitoring intensive care and neonatal patients

Transfer to the pediatric intensive care unit

(1) Achieving a total PEWS score of 3-4 / 5-6 / >6 without transfer to the intensive care unit. (2) PEWS score after transfer from the intensive care unit to the normal ward
