18 Years to 90 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Requiring hemodialysis for renal replacement therapy; end-stage oder acute renal failure requiring dialysis; current acute bacterial oder viral infection, such as pneumonia, urinary tract infection etc.; presence of blood access for routine hemodialysis (AV fistula or catheter); ability to give consent for participation in the study; presence of the patient's written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Women being pregnant or breast feeding; risk of bleeding resulting from comorbidity or recent surgery; known allergy to components of the extracorporeal therapy; existence of contraindications for the administration of heparin for anticoagulation including heparin-induced thrombocytopenia type II; existence of morbidities with assumed life expectancy below 6 months; circulatory instability.
