Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Performance of a bariatric procedure at Mannheim University Hospital - Presence of grade 3 obesity (body mass index = 50kg/m2) - Consent to participate in the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Age < 18 years - Chronic lung diseases

Delta end-expiratory lung impedance (delta EELI) between different BMI groups and PEEP levels

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
- Delta end-expiratory lung impedance (delta EELI) between baseline general anesthesia (PEEP 8 cmH2O) and PEEP level with highest static compliance of the respiratory system - Delta EELI between different PEEP levels - Delta alveolar collapse between the start and end of the decremental PEEP trial (delta collapse PEEP 24-6 cmH2O) - Parameters of the pulmonary ventilation distribution - Ventilation parameters and pressures - Esophageal pressures and transpulmonary pressures - Lung mechanics - Gas exchange - Hemodynamics
