Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Treatment naïve patient with a clinical history or diagnosis of RRMS based on Radiological criteria (Thompson et al., 2018) No steroid use within the last 30 days Age =18 years Available brain MRI Planned lumbar puncture for diagnostic purposes Signed written declaration of consent

Exclusion criteria: Age = 18 years No suspected diagnosis of MS No available MRI No planned lumbar puncture No consent Steroid treatment within the last 30 days Not treatment naive

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To measure the cellular and protein differences in the intrathecal compartment in patients showing pre-defined (radio-)pathological hallmarks.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare immune cell profiles and proteins of spinal fluid intra- and interindividual between cohorts. To evaluate the phenotype and transcriptional profiles of immune cell sub- populations in relation to disease activity monitored by MRI (New T2 lesions, T2 enlarging lesions, slowly evolving lesions, regional and general atrophy), OCT and clinical examinations (Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) and to identify changes in clonal expansion and phenotype of the intrathecal B and T cell repertoire over time.
