Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: diagnosed lipedema (Study arm 1) non-surgically treated lipedema (Study arm 1) adults, competent to consent
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Disorders of lipid metabolism (other than lipedema) Status post liposuction Bruising, injuries, or skin diseases in the examination areas Pain patients (acute and chronic pain except lipedema) Connective tissue diseases/infections Patients with conditions that affect pupil size (e.g., status post cataract or glaucoma surgery) Patients with conditions that affect pain perception (e.g., paraplegia, polyneuropathy, nerve entrapment syndromes affecting the treatment areas) Fibromyalgia Psychiatric disorders that may impair pain perception, expression, or assessment
