Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Scheduled for elective surgery requiring anaesthetic care; Able to give informed consent; Access to an internet-enabled device with camera and microphone

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Language or cognitive barriers (e.g. profound language barrier, dementia, history of laryngectomy resulting in loss of voice); High surgical risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, or cardiac-related death within 30 days post-operation according to the criteria described by Halvorsen et al.; Emergency procedures

MeasureTime frame
Quality of patient preparation in both study arms and their subsequent comparison (Modied Questionnaire Snyder et al., Questionnaire for Doctors by TRAUM, Anesthesiologist questionnaire before and after surgery)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Patient satisfaction; information gain; anaesthetist workload; compliance with fasting/medication instructions; consultation length; adverse events, measured on day of anaesthetic consultation and day of surgery.
