Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients undergoing elective total hip arthroplasty at the University Hospital Leipzig

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: prior hip surgery on the affected side, pre-existing skin conditions or infections in the hip area, known allergy to any of the antiseptics used (e.g., iodine allergy), antibiotic therapy within the past 12 weeks, inability to provide informed consent for participation in the study.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary endpoint is to determine the effect of pre-cleaning on skin microorganism reduction.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary endpoints include postoperative wound healing complications and the rate of early postoperative infections (defined as any wound infection occurring within 90 days postoperatively that requires antibiotic treatment or surgical revision).
