Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: • Performance of transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and right heart catheterization (RHC) during the same inpatient stay • Presence of tricuspid valve regurgitation • Maximum interval of 7 days between TTE and RHC • Adequate assessability of all relevant echocardiographic and invasive hemodynamic (RHC) parameters with valid measurements • Comprehensive transthoracic echocardiography • The recruitment period was defined as the period between September 19, 2017, and January 21, 2025
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: • Patients under 18 years of age • Absence of tricuspid valve Regurgitation • Intervall more than 7 days between the echocardiography and the right heart catheterization (RHC) • Inadequate assessment of echocardiographic or invasive hemodynamic (as part of RHC) measurement parameters (SPAP) • Incomplete echocardiographic examination or documentation (inferior vena cava diameter, TAPSE, etc.)
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| 1. The correlation between invasive (using right heart catheterization) and non-invasive (using transthoracic echocardiography) measurements of systolic pulmonary artery pressure (SPAP), depending on the severity of tricuspid valve regurgitation (TR), divided into mild, moderate, and severe categories. 2. The influence of right ventricular function (evaluated by TAPSE =Tricuspid Annular Plane Systolic Excursion) on the correlation between invasively and non-invasively measured SPAP. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| A subgroup analysis to differentiate between precapillary and postcapillary pulmonary hypertension (PH) concerning the concordance of invasively and noninvasively determined SPAP values. | — |
