Group 1: Excess tissue and body fluids that remain after operations on the heart or lungs and would otherwise be disposed of (e.g. heart valves, blood vessels, heart and lung tissue, pericardial fluid

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patient undergoing cardiac and/or lung surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Lack of consent Minority Psychiatric illnesses with resulting lack of legal capacity Chronic infectious diseases, especially HIV and hepatitis

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The functional analyses of the sample material planned as part of the project serve as the primary endpoint. These are molecular biological and biochemical methods such as PCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, FACS and histology.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Functional imaging using micro-CT/MRI of the samples serves as secondary endpoints.
