Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Suicidal ideations and behaviors (measured using Ecological Momentary Assessment and the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
- Loneliness (measured using Ecological Momentary Assessment and the UCLA Loneliness Scale) - Social contacts (measured using Ecological Momentary Assessment and the Social Network Index) - Negative affect (measured using Ecological Momentary Assessment, the Beck Depression Inventory, and the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale) - The presence of childhood and adolescent maltreatment (Childhood Trauma Questionnaire) - The use of digital communication (Questionnaire on the Use of Digital Communication), as well as - Data passively collected via smartphone, specifically: - Calls: number, duration, and direction (e.g., 2 calls to the same phone number vs. 2 different numbers; each number is assigned a randomly generated numerical code, without storing the actual phone number) - SMS: number, length, and direction (analogous to calls) - Screen time - Internet usage (data volume used) - Usage times of communication and social media applications: WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook - Activity (step counter, accelerometer, GPS) - Optional: Laboratory values related to inflammation (IL-1, IL-6, TNF-a, CRP), BDNF, and oxytocin, as well as the menstrual cycle day for female participants - Participant experience with the EMA methodology (EMA items on participation experience; optionally: semi-structured interview)
