Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing median sternotomy as part of an elective heart surgery. No clinical signs of preoperative thoracic inflammation. Capable patients aged over 18 years. Signed informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Reoperations Emergency cases Patients with endocarditis Existing osteitis at two or more locations Immunological comorbidities (such as autoimmune diseases) Women during pregnancy and breastfeeding Participation in other therapy studies Inability to give informed consent (e.g., HOPS, dementia, etc.) Patients who decline participation or wish to withdraw their consent during the study.
