Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of a neuromuscular disease • Chronic respiratory failure type II with established NIV therapy • Ongoing NIV therapy for a minimum duration of 3 months • Complete data sets available in the hospital’s documentation system CCP/KISS

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Age < 18 years • Lack of capacity to provide informed consent • Incomplete or missing data sets in the CCP/KISS documentation system • Patients with a primary lung disease other than COPD (e.g., pulmonary fibrosis, bronchial asthma) • Patients with acute exacerbations at the time of initial NIV initiation

Gender-specific comparison of clinical outcomes under NIV therapy with regard to: • Duration of NIV use • Device settings • Capillary blood gas analysis (pCO2, pO2, pH)

MeasureTime frame
• Gender-specific analysis of quality of life using the Severe Respiratory Insufficiency Questionnaire (SRI). • Comparison of gender-specific therapy adherence and compliance
