Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - Participants of the Mental Health Biobank Bonn who have consented to re-contact - Schizophrenia spectrum disorder (ICD-10: F2X.X), bipolar affective disorder (ICD-10: F31.X), depression (ICD-10: F32.X and F33.X), ADHD (ICD-10: F90.0), autism spectrum disorder (ICD-10: F84.X), and anxiety disorder including "climate anxiety" (ICD-10: F41.X), healthy controls
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Patients with a primary psychiatric diagnosis other than the defined target disorders - Age under 18 years or over 65 years - Patients who, in the judgment of the principal investigator, are not suitable for participation in the study - Patients presenting with acute risk of self-harm or harm to others (e.g., acutely suicidal patients) - Patients with relevant comorbidities of the central nervous system (particularly cerebrovascular disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s dementia) or clearly organically induced psychiatric symptoms (e.g., medication-induced, metabolically caused, or infection-/delirium-related) - Patients who are unable to provide informed consent
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The CDP study is not a clinical trial but an observational cross-sectional study. Patients are examined only once at the time of inclusion. The aim of the CDP study is to investigate whether, using a multivariate approach, it is possible to identify different patient groups (schizophrenia spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, ADHD, anxiety disorder, climate anxiety) based on MRI-/EEG-/OCT-/ERG-derived data, as well as clinical and sociodemographic data, and thereby to uncover disease-specific parameters that could support future diagnostic processes. Machine learning methods are used for the multivariate analysis. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Secondary Endpoint: - Are structural brain parameters (multimodal MRI) associated with structural retinal changes (OCT) in patients with psychiatric disorders? - Are electrophysiological brain function parameters (EEG) associated with electrophysiological retinal changes (ERG) in patients with psychiatric disorders? - Are structural and/or functional brain parameters associated with cognitive dysfunction characteristics (BACS assessment) in patients and controls? - Are structural and/or functional retinal changes associated with cognitive dysfunction characteristics (BACS assessment) in patients and controls? - Can specific in vivo phenotypic characteristics be translated in vitro into stem cell–derived neurobiological test systems? | — |
