Group 1: Stimulation group, undergoing stimulation for a duration of two weeks. Group 2: Control group with a placebo device, which is worn identically to the active device for a duration of two weeks

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing abdominoplasty at the BG Klinik, with the ability to understand the study and to sign consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Patients incapable of giving consent • patients with systemic disease (e.g., cancer, diabetes, etc.) • patients with implantable medical devices (e.g., cardiac pacemaker) • patients with suspected acute cardiac arrythmia • patients with epilepsy • patients taking regular medication impacting wound healing • smoking and other substance abuse • presence of soft tissue infections • BMI >35.0 and <17.5 kg/m2

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Subjective and objective assessment of wound healing at 2 days, 7 days, 14 days, 4 weeks, and 3 months postoperatively, using O2C, TIVITA® Tissue System, UltraScan, and patient-reported questionnaires.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Assessment of quality of life using patient-reported questionnaires.
