Interventions

Group 1: Intervention group 1 will receive an open-label placebo twice daily for 4 weeks. Group 2: Intervention group 2 will receive a concealed placebo twice daily for 4 weeks. Group 3: Control group

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: BMI > 25

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: No known history of psychiatric, neurological, or endocrine disorders, or eating disorders (assessed via self-report)

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Weight and eating behavior (assessed using the FEV) will be measured at baseline, after 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 6 months.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The Questionnaire for the Assessment of Resources and Self-Management Skills (FERUS), body fat percentage, and waist-to-hip ratio will be measured at baseline and after 4 weeks.
