The study includes patients with a wide range of neurosurgical conditions. These include, but are not limited to, degenerative spinal diseases (e.g., disc herniations, spinal stenosis), intracranial space-occupying lesions (e.g., gliomas, meningiomas), cerebrovascular disorders (e.g., aneurysms, hemorrhages, ischemic strokes), epilepsy, hydrocephalus, and congenital malformations. Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Outpatient presentation at the Department of Neurosurgery - Scheduled physician consultation including report discussion - Sufficient German language proficiency to participate in the survey - Cognitive ability to assess and understand medical documents - Written informed consent obtained

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Severe language barriers preventing comprehension of medical reports or questionnaires - Cognitive impairments that preclude informed consent or valid self-assessment - Acute neurological or psychiatric conditions affecting communication ability - Participation in another interventional study related to healthcare communication

MeasureTime frame
Patient satisfaction with physician communication following outpatient consultation Measured using the Health Care Communication Questionnaire (HCCQ) and the Patient-Physician Interaction Questionnaire (FAPI) immediately after the consultation. The aim is to assess whether an AI-generated, layperson-friendly translation of medical findings improves patients' perceived quality of communication with their physician.

Self-perceived understanding, consultation duration, physician satisfaction Collected data include: - Patients’ self-rated understanding of the medical information (numerical scale from 1 to 5, before and after the consultation), - Duration of the consultation, measured by recording start and end times, - Physician satisfaction with communication, assessed using the Health Care Communication Questionnaire (HCCQ) and the Difficult Doctor-Patient Relationship Questionnaire (DDPRQ).
