Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: -Complications following abdominoperineal excision (APE/APR) that required plastic-reconstructive surgery. -Use of at least one gracilis muscle flap as part of the reconstruction.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who did not receive gracilis flap reconstruction, but instead underwent other reconstructive procedures—e.g., VRAM flap only.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Postoperative complication rate associated with plastic surgery procedures, classified according to the Clavien-Dindo system, within 30 days after surgery.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
• Duration of surgery • Reoperation rate (28% of patients required surgical revision) • Wound healing rate (100% of patients achieved complete healing during follow-up) • Donor site complications • Factors associated with complications, including: • Number of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) cycles prior to reconstruction • Interval between oncologic resection and reconstructive surgery • Length of hospital stay • Follow-up duration • Postoperative functional outcomes, e.g., no limitations in leg mobility reported
