Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients must undergo elective cardiac surgery using heart lung machine; Indication of TEE and uncalibrated pulse contour analysis.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Contraindication of TEE and uncalibrated pulse contour analysis; Arrhythmia influencing measurement precision.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary endpoint is the difference between the individually measured cardiac output (CO) after induction of anesthesia (assessed via TEE and/or pulse contour analysis) and the standardized CO of 2.4 l/min/m² body surface area during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), calculated using the Du Bois and Du Bois formula.

MeasureTime frame
Recording and analysis of regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO2) using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) before and during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Comparison of cardiac output (CO) values obtained via transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and uncalibrated pulse contour analysis.
