Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who require the extraction of at least one tooth in the upper jaw (15-25). The extraction may be indicated for periodontal reasons or destruction of the tooth due to caries or trauma, which preclude the preservation of the tooth. The missing tooth should be restored with an implant. A requirement for inclusion in the patient group is that a tooth or an existing implant is present in the immediate vicinity of the tooth to be extracted.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Persons under 18 or legally incompetent persons • Recognizable primary additional need for augmentation • Insertion of the implant with an implant drilling template not possible (insufficient mouth opening). • Heavy smokers (more than 10 cigs/day) • Taking bisphosphonates • Pregnant • Alcohol or drug addicts • Patients with an infectious disease such as hepatitis or HIV/AIDS • Patients with uncontrolled severe diabetes mellitus. The long-term blood sugar level, HbA1c, must be below 6.7%.
