Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients hospitalized on the MK1-S4 ward in UKDD with increased HE risk: Age >18, Informed Consent possible Confirmed liver cirrhosis or Portosystemic shunt (TIPS, traumatic, portal vein thrombosis/compression) or Acute liver failure

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Not capable of giving informed consent and no authorized representative No knowledge of the German or English language Severe cognitive impairment of a different origin Patch allergy or extensive skin damage/infection Diseases with impairment of the sweat glands (cystic fibrosis/Sjögren's/scleroderma) Known hyperhidrosis Photosensitive epilepsy Pregnancy
