Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
We are conducting a longitudinal study using Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) and repeated conventional surveys of users of the online training. After a first initial survey, a weekend survey will be conducted via EMA together with the saliva sample collection. After completion of the PAARweise training (after 2 months) and after 6 months, the EMA and saliva sample examination will be repeated. Finally, a 12-month follow-up is carried out by means of a conventional survey. The surveys are the same for the study participants in both study arms. The following features will be analyzed in cross-section and longitudinal section: Core characteristics of parent pairs: •Psycho(patho)logical stress: Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS; Nilges & Essau, 2021) •Satisfaction with partnership (CSI; Funk & Rogge, 2007) •Life satisfaction Core characteristics of children: •Psychopathology (SDQ; Goodman, 1997) •Life satisfaction (WHO-5) EMA adults: •Cortisol levels •Current mood and emotional state •Satisfaction with the partnership (CSI; Funk & Rogge, 2007) •Family climate •Partnership climate Morning assessment only: •Sleep quality Evening assessment only: •Conflicts during the day •Interpersonal behavior •Time spent with family members •Extraordinary events EMA children: •Current mood and emotional state •Psychopathology (SDQ; Goodman, 1997) •Family climate •Perceived climate between the parents Morning assessment only: •Sleep quality Evening assessment only: •Conflicts during the day •Time with parents •Extraordinary events

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
• Measurement of stress-responsive cortisol levels over time • Analysis of interaction and conflict behavior in everyday life • Differential social structure analysis of the sample • Comparison to a representative sample drawn from the Family Demographic Panel (FReDA): Control families with a similar socio-demographic profile will be drawn from over 20,000 participants using a matching procedure and compared with the study sample. The aim is to identify factors that influence access to web-based interventions for couples in crisis.
