Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Determination of specific optoacoustic features of peripheral nerves in the arm compared to the surrounding tissue, recorded with MSOT at rest. These include: a) tissue-specific optoacoustic features (e.g. specific dimensions of endogenous chromophores), b) textural features (e.g. spatial correlations) and c) structural features (fascicle pattern, vascularity, water content, myelin contrast). | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| 1. Early neuropathic features, such as higher or lower vascularity, altered fascicular patterns and vascularity, myelin contrast, higher/lower water content in participants with higher peripheral neuropathy scores. 2. Peripheral neuropathy risk scores. 3. Quantitative measurement of blood oxygenation of the vasa nervosa – with MSOT and with pulse oximetry readings at the index finger. 4. Quantitative measurement of blood oxygenation in the brachial artery during physiological conditions – via MSOT and with traditional pulse oximetry at the index finger. 5. Segmentation a) based on AI analysis and b) by expert clinician. | — |
