Inclusion criteria: Patients on dialysis Ability to give consent Sufficient german language skills

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Epilepsy Significant visual impairment Dementia Paranoid schizophrenia Sedating medication

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1. Change in subjective well-being (before vs. after VR exposure, measured by questionnaires) 2. Change in vital signs (blood pressure and heart rate before, during and after VR exposure) 3. Reduction in pain (before vs. after VR exposure, measured by pain scale)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Acceptability and need for the intervention (number of patients who would like to repeat the intervention or who are in favour of long-term implementation) 2. Preferred VR environment (analysis of the selected VR scenarios to identify patient preferences) 3. Tolerability and safety of the VR application (frequency of side effects such as dizziness or nausea) 4. Correlation between patient characteristics and VR effect (e.g. age, previous illnesses or duration of dialysis as possible factors influencing the effectiveness of the VR intervention)
