Interventions

Use of a self-help smartphone app (content: digital storage of an individual safety plan for use in emotional crises, journaling, hopebox, sources of strength, knowledge center)
existing therapies/treatments will continue (treatment-as-usual, TAU). Group 2: Waitlist control group

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Suicidality during the last 4 weeks (SIDAS Cut-Off: Item 1 > 2) (2) Upcoming completion of inpatient treatment at a participating child and adolescent psychiatry site or ongoing outpatient treatment at a participating child and adolescent psychiatry site or a participating outpatient clinic.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Insufficient German language skills (2) No possession of a smartphone / no possession of a smartphone running Android or iOS operating systems (3) No willingness to download a smartphone app (4) Concerns regarding eligibility by healthcare providers (e.g., acute suicide risk, intellectual disability/ICD7X, or acute psychotic symptoms).
