Interventions

Group 1: Diabetics with or without diabetic retinopathy / maculopathy Multimodality imaging using conventional SD-OCT, OCTA, MPOD and High-resolution OCT is performed every 3 to 6 months for 3 years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Consenting patients with type I/II diabetes mellitus

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Other previous retinal diseases (age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal vascular occlusion) and/or inadequate quality of imaging

MeasureTime frame
- Measurement of retinal sensitivity in areas of the biomarker DRIL (disorganisation of the retinal inner layers) using lesion-specific microperimetry - Correlation of DRIL lesions to the optical density of the macular pigment (MPOD) - Longitudinal detection of vascular perfusion in DRIL lesions

MeasureTime frame
- Correlation of MPOD and carotenoid intake - Correlation of HbA1c with MPOD and vascular perfusion - Comparison of perfusion, MPOD and retinal sensitivity of diabetics with and without DRIL lesions
