Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with at least one implant (in function for a minimum of 1 year).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Patients with poor oral hygiene (Full mouth plaque score = 20%). • Patients currently presenting with peri-implant diseases. • Intake of systemic or local antibiotics within the past 6 months. • Patients who have received oral hygiene instructions during the last 6 months. • Smokers (no cigarettes allowed). • Patients with immunocompromised conditions. • Pregnant or lactating individuals. • Patients experiencing psychological or mental illnesses affecting daily oral hygiene maintenance. • Patients currently undergoing periodontal treatment. • Sites with implant-supported overdentures or full-arch fixed prostheses. • Sites with implant-supported rehabilitations showing poor marginal adaptation (clinically detected with a probe) or inadequate contact points. • Zirconia implants.

The presence (yes/no) of bleeding on probing (BoP) at 6 months.

• Incidence of peri-implant mucositis or peri-implantitis. • Modified plaque index (mPI). • Probing depth (PD). • Plaque index (PI). • Modified sulcus bleeding index (mSBI). • Suppuration (SUP). • Percentage of sites displaying BoP and SUP. • Knowledge on oral hygiene practices and peri-implant diseases. • Awareness of peri-implant diseases. • Brushing discomfort evaluated with an 10-point numeric-rating scale. • Oral health-related quality of life (OHIP-14). • Probe Feasibility (yes/no). • Biomarkers in peri-implant crevicular fluid • Peri-implant mucosa colour.
