Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for individual interviews with older adults or geriatric patients: • Fully consenting, community-dwelling older adults (= 65 years) OR geriatric patients in outpatient, partial inpatient, or inpatient care (= 65 years) • Currently taking at least one prescription medication long-term (in tablet or capsule form) • Ability to provide meaningful self-reports (as assessed by the treating physicians and the study director conducting the interviews) • Consent to audio recording of the individual interview Inclusion criteria for individual interviews with relatives of older adults or geriatric patients: • Fully consenting, community-dwelling relatives of older adults or geriatric patients • Relatives of older adults or geriatric patients who are currently taking at least one prescription medication long-term • Consent to audio recording of the individual interview Inclusion criteria for focus group interviews with healthcare professionals in the geriatric sector: • Professional contact with older adults (over 65 years) or geriatric patients (physicians, nursing staff, pharmacists, emergency services) • Consent to audio recording of the focus group interview
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for individual interviews with older adults or geriatric patients: • Older adults OR geriatric patients diagnosed with dementia, delirium, or any other condition that impairs the ability to provide informed consent • Currently taking fewer than one prescription medication long-term (in tablet or capsule form) • Refusal to consent to audio recording of the individual interview Exclusion criteria for individual interviews with relatives of older adults or geriatric patients: • Relatives with impaired ability to provide informed consent • Relatives in inpatient medical treatment or long-term residential care • Relatives of older adults or geriatric patients who are currently taking fewer than one prescription medication long-term (in tablet or capsule form) • Refusal to consent to audio recording of the individual interview Exclusion criteria for focus group interviews with healthcare professionals in the geriatric sector: • No professional contact with older adults (over 65 years) or geriatric patients in the last 10 years • Refusal to consent to audio recording of the focus group interview
