Primary outcome measure: Change in transepidermal water loss (g/h/m²) before, during, and after hemodialysis Rationale: Robust, species-independent parameter, numerically easy to assess, low methodological susceptibility to interference Measurement method: Tewameter® TM Hex (Courage + Khazaka Electronic, Cologne) Analysis: Depending on normal distribution Use of non-parametric or parametric tests for paired samples (matched pairs)

1) Change in Copeptin levels due to hemodialysis as a marker of neurohumoral activation (ELISA measurement in serum before and after hemodialysis). 2) Investigation of serum concentrations of nitrogen metabolism-related metabolites (Anserine, Copeptin, Glutamine/Glutamate, Aspartate) and their changes due to hemodialysis (serum measurement before and after hemodialysis, serum metabolomics analysis using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) with MxP® Quant 500 Kit, biocrates). 3) Analysis of TonEBP mRNA expression using RT-PCR in isolated neutrophils, monocytes, and myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) (blood sampling before & after dialysis in weeks 1 and 4).
