Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Regarding Adolescents: 1) Female adolescents aged between 10;0 and 17;11 years 2) With at least one interpersonal trauma (e.g., physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, witnessing domestic violence) and a (C-)PTSD diagnosis according to a standardized clinical interview 3) Participation of a biological mother who has not been a perpetrator of abuse toward the adolescent Regarding Tf-CBT therapists: 1) Female gender 2) Professional background as either a physician in specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry, a board-certified specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry, or a clinical psychologist 3) Successful completion of a two-day in-person Tf-CBT training and thorough study of the Tf-CBT treatment manual 4) Participation in regular (monthly) supervision sessions with certified Tf-CBT trainers
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Regarding adolescents and mothers: 1) Dangerous living environment, ongoing traumatization of the adolescent, or any other form of immediate child welfare endangerment, in order to minimize the risk of retraumatization 2) Acute risk of self-harm or harm to others by the adolescent or the mother requiring a higher level of psychiatric support 3) Diagnoses within the schizophrenia spectrum (F20–F29), presence of a psychotic disorder, manic episode (F30), severe substance use, substance dependence or behavioral disorders due to the use of psychotropic substances (F10–F19), pervasive developmental disorders or autism spectrum disorders (F84), chronic pain disorder (F45.41), diseases of the central nervous system (e.g., Parkinson’s disease, dementia), or neuroendocrine disorders (e.g., disorders of the HPA axis, hyperaldosteronism, Cushing’s syndrome, adrenogenital syndrome [AGS], pheochromocytoma, adrenal insufficiency) 4) Use of oral glucocorticoid medication (e.g., cortisone) or other medications potentially affecting the HPA axis within 14 days prior to study inclusion 5) Pregnancy 6) Severe cognitive impairment (IQ < 70, or diagnosis of F7 according to ICD-10) in the adolescent and/or mother (based on clinical impression or existing records) 7) Insufficient German language skills 8) Ongoing trauma therapy of the adolescent Exclusion criteria for patients and mothers (see above) also apply to the therapists, with the exception of criteria 4, 5, and 8.
