Conditions

The following ICD diagnoses for long/post-COVID are taken into account: U08.9, U09.9!, U10.9, G93.3 (only relevant for people with a previously diagnosed COVID-19). The analyses with an outpatient or inpatient COVID-19 diagnosis (ICD: U07.1) between 2020 and 2024 as a risk population are repeated. U09.9 U10.9 G93.3 U07.1

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The study population for objective 1 is all SHI-insured persons between 2021 and 2024 (2021: 73.32 million; 2023: 74.31 million) who are stratified according to diabetes status (approx. 10% of all insured persons with diabetes). The study population for objective 2 consists of all SHI-insured persons who will also be stratified by diabetes status between 2021 and 2023 according to the presence of a “long/post-COVID” diagnosis. The database is also to be expanded to include insured persons without a “long/post-COVID” diagnosis in order to estimate excess mortality and excess hospitalizations due to this diagnosis.
