Inclusion criteria: Healthy men/women aged 18 to 65 years Signed informed consent

Exclusion criteria: Any known systemic diseases or regular drug treatment Course of antibiotic treatment within the past 4 weeks Intake of dietary supplements Pregnant and breastfeeding women

Presence of the of the microbial metabolite of Pycnogenol (5-(3’,4’-dihydroxy¬phenyl)-?-valerolactone; called “M1”) in saliva and correlation with the degree of salt sensitivity of the erythrocyte glycocalyx. Concentrations of other parameters in saliva, such as lipoprotein a, in order to evaluate potential factors correlating with salt sensitivity. Exploratory in vitro studies of glycoclayx-associated endothelial parameters
