Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: -Age between 18 and 35 years -Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18.5 and 25 kg/m² -No history of disturbed eating behavior or eating disorders -No diagnosed metabolic diseases (e.g., no hypothyroidism, no diabetes mellitus) -No repeated major weight losses in the past -Weight fluctuations of =2.5 kg in the last 3 months -No vegan diet -No nutrient intolerance or food allergies -Women: Regular periods in the last three months (cycle length >35 days), no use of a hormonal IUD, not pregnant, and not breastfeeding
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: -Age 35 years -Body mass index 25 kg/m² -History of disturbed eating behavior/eating disorders -Diagnosed metabolic disease (e.g. hypothyroidism, diabetes mellitus) -Repeated major weight loss in the past -Weight fluctuations of >2.5 kg in the last 3 months -Vegan diet -Nutrient intolerance or food allergy -Women: no regular period in the last three months (cycle length >35 days), use of a hormonal IUD, pregnancy, or breastfeeding

| The data is collected on the morning of the 4th day after each study phase (energy balance, energy deficit, energy surplus): -Respiratory Quotient, O2 consumption/CO2 production (metabolism of carbohydrates and fats), and blood glucose during an oral glucose tolerance test -Markers of energy metabolism (T3, insulin, glucagon, leptin, glucose, lactate, free fatty acids, glycerol) -Gene expression of marker enzymes of lipogenesis in adipocytes (Sterol Regulatory Element-Binding Protein-1c (SREBP-1c), Fatty Acid Synthase (FASN), Acetyl-Coenzyme A Carboxylase (ACC), and ATP Citrate Lyase (ACLY)) | — |
