Group 1: Intervention group: Access to an unguided online intervention for improving mental health in people with obesity (14 modules, each lasting 20–40 minutes
recommended usage: 1 module per week
flexible use regarding order and timing) Group 2: Active control group: Access to an online bibliotherapy (informational website) on mental health and obesity (flexible use regarding order and timing)

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: BMI >= 30, PHQ-8 >= 5, internet access, sufficient German language skills, informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: current suicidal tendencies (BDI-II suicide item > 1), no contact person in crisis situations (e.g. GP), current psychotherapy, unstable psychopharmacological medication in the last 6 weeks
