Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Subjects >/= 18 years in good health - Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) indication in the head and neck facial area - Indication for excision and defect coverage by means of collagen membrane - Subjects capable of consenting and who have agreed to the inclusion and participation in the study - Patients who are able to follow treatment- and study-related guidelines

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Defect size after excision exceeds the possibility of defect coverage by means of collagen membrane - Allergy to collagen - Corticosteroid intake - ongoing or already completed chemotherapy - ongoing or already completed radiation therapy - Infectious diseases - General medical contraindications with regard to blood sampling - No vulnerable groups/minors - Pregnant and breastfeeding

- Healing process based on clinical photo documentation - POSAS questionnaire on wound quality and patient satisfaction

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Stimulation of neutrophilic granulocytes for differentiation into the regenerative phenotype, detectible by the release of MMP8 in wound exudate
